Description of Cast Acrylic Sheet Thick Nominal

LIGHT IN WEIGHT Acrylic (specific gravity 1.19) is less than half the weight when compared to inorganic glass. CHEMICAL RESISTANT Acrylic is resistant to inorganic chemicals and normal chained hydrocarbons. However, contact with organic solvents may cause swelling, crazing, or cracking. IMPACT RESISTANT Acrylic is approximately 8 to 10 times more resistant to impact than ordinary plate glass. EASY FABRICATION Acrylic can be saw cut, drilled, routed, machined, solvent cemented, polished and strip bent using conventional acrylic sheet fabrication techniques. THERMO FORMABLE An excellent thermoplastic, acrylic may be thermoformed. Because it is a cell cast sheet, it is not subject to the excessive shrinkage that is encountered in extruded or continuously manufactured sheets.

Versatile and durable clear plastic

This cast acrylic sheet is a reliable and long-lasting option for industrial and scientific projects requiring a clear plastic material. Its thickness and durability make it ideal for a variety of uses. However, it is important to note that the sheet may scratch easily and requires proper handling. Overall, this clear plastic is a solid choice for those in need of a versatile raw material.

Pros
  • Highly durable and impact-resistant
Cons
  • Limited color options available

Not so transparent. Almost opaque.

The transparency should have had light behind it, but the light barely comes through when you put the backlight behind it. Probably only lets 10% of the light through.

Pros
  • EASY TO MANUFACTURE Acrylic can be sawed, drilled, routed, machined, solvent bonded, polished and stripped using standard acrylic sheet manufacturing processes.
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

More "opaque " than "transparent ".

I was planning to make a shield for my open laser, but this material doesn't let light through. I should have paid attention to the reviewer who said "maybe 10% light" but I'd say it's a lot less than 10% and almost "opaque". Acrylic quality, good packaging, timely delivery. However, I wish it was more obvious to me that this is actually closer to "opaque". Gave 4 stars as I feel the seller could have made it clearer but didn't feel it was a fault in the product just the description.

Pros
  • LIGHT Acrylic (specific gravity 1.19) is twice as light as inorganic glass.
Cons
  • Damaged
