Works intermittently - disappointed!

Very disappointed with this bike computer. We've used several computers on our bikes over the years and none of them have performed as badly as this one. It stops working every few miles (the sensor stops measuring cadence) and the only way to get it working again is to remove the battery from the sensor and put it back in. We tried changing the battery and even installing the computer on another bike - no change. Unfortunately this was a birthday present a few weeks after purchase so we can no

Cheap (or more) alternative to fancy GPS units

I order these more or less regularly, they're all crap after all, but they're reasonably affordable if you just use them for tracking use mileage, speed and time. I keep them for 2-3 seasons and eventually things start to get in the way (planned obsolescence?). The latter didn't show up at all, I changed the battery, it worked for a while for a ride or two, and then a blank screen appeared again and wouldn't turn back on. I keep buying this model because I'm used to it, they're pretty easy to…

Good product BUT GREAT online chat help!

I have a wired version of the Cateye Strada on my indoor bike (on Cycleopps) but I wanted one for both of my street bikes. I have this and had a little problem with magnet alignment and computer syncing. I went to online chat and got fast, polite and efficient help! The computer is installed, the magnet is synchronized, the spring bike ride is on. The instructions can be a bit confusing - look closely at the picture and figure out where to find your tire size to set the circumference, but…

Root cause measurement Improved

I've been cycling for 55 years and since I bought this wireless Cat Eye computer a few months ago I've set three new personal records: most kilometers in a day (50), lowest riding temperature (23 degrees Fahrenheit) and most miles for 10 consecutive weeks (616). These are modest personal bests, but they wouldn't have been achieved without the visual readout on my cat-eye bike computer motivating me to ride the extra 1/10th of a mile or don my warmest winter bike gear and go. in 30 minutes…

Works well! on bike computers

Installation is a bit cumbersome. I have a bike with round forks at least halfway up. The rubber mount looked like it would mount on the flattened portion of the fork, but it was too far from the unit to lift. I called Cat Eye and the nice support guy said I could just crush the rubber on the round part. He also mentioned that the mount allows the sensor to be tilted close enough to receive a signal from the wheel magnet. Exactly what I needed to know. Now everything works, even though the…

Don't buy anything else at this price

I just installed this odometer and was immediately impressed. I have had several CatEye products in the past and this matches their quality. Shortly before this odometer I first had a bike computer from Zarco (https://www.amazon.com/Zacro-Computer-Speedometer-Backlight-FunctionBike/dp/B01H1MV7LU/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468634479&sr=8-1 - spell&keys words=zarko+bike+computer). I saw good reviews and ordered. It felt, looked and looked cheap. A day passed before one of the buttons stopped…

Decent accessories but flimsy mounts

I've been using a Cateye bike computer since Solar II (the one I bought in the 80's still works). When I was building a new bike, I needed a simple computer to do it. It looked good on a bike with hydraulic disc brakes as there isn't a good way to route the wire from the fork to the handlebars. The computer and magnetic sensor work well. The pickup is less finicky than the ones that came with the wired models I bought in the 90's (they still work and I still use them). The display is sharp and…
