This was exactly what I needed. Replaced it with the exact same part that was on my 20 year old shop fan. Easy to install and works like a charm.

This particular model (see another from same manufacturer) has faulty interlocking connections. Error securing more than one wire in block. avoid it

Don't waste your money if you own a vintage Hampton Bay San Marino. The connection instructions do not specify the colors of the wires that the fan had. If you insert a wire and then pull it out, the piece of shit will break. Bought 1. Broken by removing wire as directed. I bought a second one and connected it to the lousy instructions. That does not work. Broken, remove cable according to instructions. Thank you for wasting my time.

The reason I gave 4 is because a contact point was broken the first time (I wish I had the switch before installing checked) when he came the second time correctly and works like the original. I've tried a 3 position switch from Home Depot and Lowe's, they don't work properly, it's a waste of time/labor.
