This did not work on arrival. After several attempts, there was no response from the other end. I contacted the manufacturer directly to see if they could help and they said I would have to go back to the supplier. I found out that there are several fakes. Just make sure you're buying from a retailer that's on the manufacturer's retailer list.

I bought this CHI straightener to replace one I've had for the last 7 or 8 years before dropping it on purpose. It is definitely a fake and doesn't look like the real thing. It looks like it, but the quality isn't the same - the light flashes differently and the heat isn't as good. It's probably better than Conair or Remington, but it's not a true CHI comparison.

It was a good iron at a good price but the cord came loose after about 4 months of use and I actually got electrocuted after which my husband forced me to throw it out. From now on I'll stick with cheap irons that aren't worth the money if they only last a few months.

i bought the chi in april 2012 and it just stopped working in early february 2012 even though i took good care of it and never dropped it. Chi is generally a good product and I liked the effect it had on my hair but I think Amazon sold me a faulty product. The return period has expired so I won't be buying my next iron from Amazon

I was concerned when I got my new Chi because of all the fake Chi sales reviews. I went through it top to bottom and compared it to my original Chi which I probably bought 6-7 years ago. There were a few differences, but when I went to Farouk's website, these changes were visible on Chi's website, so I'm glad it's not fake. During testing, it quickly warmed up. It moves easily through my hair and does a great job of straightening. The only difference I don't like is that it's 35w instead of 40w

When I turn this iron on it starts to smell of burning, when I contacted the seller it was replaced. Now the new ceramic plates are breaking off and burning my hair! This item is counterfeit, do not buy it! I went to the Farouk website to find a trustworthy retailer near me and bought the real one for just a little more than I paid for that one. I recommend anyone who wants a real chi iron to do the same!

I had CHI for years and after 6 years mine finally died. So I ordered a new CHI online thinking I'd get a great discount if I paid $50 for a CHI. Not correct. There's just no quality. I used the same model of my mom's Chi straightener until a few months ago it accidentally hit the countertop and stopped working and I just had to order the same Chi model. It works FANTASTIC! It doesn't pull your hair like other flat irons and leaves your hair shiny and smooth. There is only one setting, off and on, but the heat straightens my curly hair really well. I'm guessing it's just a change in the way the company makes the product, it appears to be a legitimate product but it seems im Being so cheap compared to the last CHI I bought 5 years ago. Plastic seems cheaper and more brittle and doesn't seem to heat up. HOWEVER the seller was excellent on delivery times and was great!
