Description of Champion DT22HEX 1 4 20 Combination Drill

Tapered neck design significantly reduces drill & tap breakage. The 135 degree split point drill permits holes to be cut at high speeds. Taping caution must be adhered to with slower speed. Superior strength durability provided by high Molybdenum content and high speed steel with functional black and gold surface treatment that holds lubricant for smoother drilling. Applications include: Construction, Electrical, Maintenance, Industrial, Automotive, Farm Implement Machinery, HVAC. Cuts steel, cast iron, aluminum, bronze, brass, zinc and some stainless steel.

Impressive performance for my DIY projects

As a hesitant buyer, I was skeptical about the quality of this drill but it proved me wrong. Through trial and error, I found that this industrial-grade drill bit performs exceptionally well, especially for heavy-duty drilling .It smoothly cuts through hard surfaces without any difficulty, which is impressive. Its hex SHANK design ensures tight fastening and easy bit changes, making my DIY projects a breeze. The only downside is the comparatively higher price tag, but it is worth every penny…

Pros
  • Exceptional performance, easy bit changes, hex shank design.
Cons
  • Slightly expensive.

Makes tapping easier - Hex Shank

I bought the 1/4-20 along with a 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 inch combination drill and taps. So far I haven't had any problems. I have a milling machine with thread cutting mode. In aluminum I drill a hole, then reduce the speed to 50 rpm and tap it. With steel, I turn several times to remove the chips. They cut good, clean threads and are much quicker than drilling a hole and then tapping. I use thread oil and recommend it, especially for steel.

Pros
  • Drill Bit
Cons
  • Slightly Torn
