The instructions are missing an important part of the assembly, there is a retaining/mounting plate screw that just needs to be screwed in in a specific, non-described order. I have used this mount for two phones Motorola Bionic and Samsung Galaxy S3 both fit well. If I recall correctly, the charging port on the Bionic may have been blocked, but I was able to figure it out by turning the device upside down to use the GPS and the screen automatically flipped, so everything was fine. The only flaw was that it didn't hold position as it slowly rotated into an unreadable position due to bike vibration on smooth, paved bike paths.
