📺 Charter Spectrum HD DVR Digital Receiver Remote Control with Batteries - Backward Compatible (Pack of One) Review

My dog ate my remote control so instead of returning to Spectrum to overpay for a new one I found this one on Amazon. It came with batteries and took about 15 seconds to install using the instructions that came with it. It's a great alternative if you've lost yours or have a damaged remote control. I hope I don't need another one any time soon!

Brand new remote as pictured. I have to admit that it took me a few minutes to figure out how to sync it to my cable box as the instructions that came with it only talk about how to sync it to the TV which then only allows you to adjust the volume. (You will need to use the controls on the cable box to bring up the menu, then Settings for instructions on how to pair the new remote to the box). Once that was clarified, it worked wonderfully!

For this to work you must press the menu button and either #2 or #3 at the same time until the input light blinks twice. That's not in the instructions. AND YOU WILL. REPEAT THIS STEP IN MONTHS LATER IF IT DON'T WORK. Don't waste a lot of time with the useless instructions that come with it. Otherwise it is identical to the Spectrum remote control.

It changes channels, volume, guide etc right out of the box from my Spectrum Digital service. To program your TV for it, all you have to do is go to MENU/SETTINGS & SUPPORT/SUPPORT > REMOTE CONTROL, press OK and select NEW REMOTE CONTROL. You have to hold down the OPTIONS button on the remote and then blink and ask is this a XX TV? Say "yes" if it's correct and go. CONNECT TO TV and that's all you have to do for the remote control to change the combination of TV and DVR.

I HATE writing bad reviews but that's what it is. We've tried to get the remote to work with our cable and TV (not to mention the soundbar) to no avail. All of this sucks. I got 2 more from another seller and they work exactly as they should; turn on I watch what I want and they switch off too. Save yourself. Make sure you get replacement remotes from a trusted source, and don't be a big fool like me and end up with another batch of paper that looks like a remote.

I just switched back to Spectrum and wanted two remotes so I bought these and almost returned them because I couldn't get them to work with the cable box. The instructions included didn't help a bit. My remote hasn't been programmed for the Spectrum and the instructions don't say anything about how to do it.
