Does the job!: Parts and accessories

Good heat dissipation - splice one side, solder iron the other and watch the solder run down the braid. Ideal size for difficult areas.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Transparency

It's good but not as good as before

Works very well but not as good as the old stuff. On the old braids I had they could be used until both sides were so wet with solder that they were completely silver. It gets blotchy and wet on this one

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • old

Not very good even in an emergency

Not unsoldering the pigtails of your youth. I bought this many years ago, it didn't work so I threw it in a garbage bag. Recently I needed a braid to take down and I grabbed this one. I forgot how inefficient it was. I wish I had more of the old Radio Shack braid I've relied on for years.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Some difficulties

This brand works really great!

I have bought this version several times in size #3 and have been very satisfied. Then I saw another brand that looked similar and bought it because it was three times cheaper. It barely absorbed the solder and was annoying. So I recommend this brand because it works as it should! Don't go cheap!

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Works Where Solder Won't

This Braid Works Couldn't get the solder to flow enough to use a solder suction tool and it would pop out of the spring clip without catching the solder. Risk of board overheating. This desoldering braid allows for much better heat control and grips the solder without popping off the solder joint. It was much easier to use for that.

Pros
  • Welding and Soldering
Cons
  • Disappears

If you are a Wick user, this is for you!

I have been soldering for almost fifty years and have used various methods of desoldering parts. Wick, this is by far the best I've found. he wants to drink Rosin (flux) is enough to work without additional addition. Any residue can be easily removed. And 5 feet of this stuff goes a long way! It seems pricey but it is when you get what you pay for.

Pros
  • tools and household goods
Cons
  • unreliable

I won't do everything, but sometimes it's the only way.

This stuff works very well. I like to cut off a 1 inch piece, hold it in the middle with needle nose pliers and use each end once. I've found that it's best to place it on top of the solder you want to remove and press it down with a soldering iron. What it doesn't do is suck solder out of holes. Coupled with a good solder sucker and a resistor to get solder out of holes, you can clean almost anything if the solder sucker isn't doing its job.

Pros
  • Parts and Accessories
Cons
  • Damaged
