[Update] Great Design But Doesn't Work

Updated 5 Star Rating: Turns out it was my fault. Although the drive I thought was an msata drive, it was actually an mpata drive. Apparently they are very difficult to tell apart and they are very rare. In all my years of fixing computers, I've never seen anything like it. I tried Msata hard drive and it worked great. Original 1 Star Rating: The design is great and my SSD slides in easily. However, this does not work. The drive gets hot but doesn't show up as memory in the operating system.

Pros
  • Computers and Accessories
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

which causes the operating system to hang. Great form factor

I like the physical design. It looks and feels solid. The problem is that the sata to usb chipset doesn't work very well. Especially on Linux. After a few hundred megabytes of transfer, the kernel driver hangs. It may work better in Winmoz or Mac OS.

Pros
  • I/O cards
Cons
  • Poorly designed

You can fry an egg on it.

Wow, this thing is getting hot. I add passive heatsinks to the outside of the case because I'm concerned that heat build-up will kill the SSD if I use it as is for too long.

Pros
  • Internal components
Cons
  • Quality

Comes in a case. Best in Internals

It actually comes in a better case than I expected. However, if you don't have a Micro Phillips screwdriver, you'll need to remove the case and install the Msata SSD.

Pros
  • USB Port Cards
Cons
  • Very Expensive

It works Computer components

It worked exactly for what I needed. transfer data from old msata ssd to my new pc. Can't comment on durability yet as I just bought it, but so far it has worked flawlessly to transfer large amounts of data in the gigabyte range.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Slightly torn
