Great product for both surface mount and thru hole soldering

Just tried it and liked it for a number of reasons. 1) It's a really good flux. 2) Easy to apply the right amount. 3) The cannula needle ensures precise placement where you want to solder.

Pros
  • Soldering and soldering equipment
Cons
  • Nothing here

That is my favourite! Although the formula is constantly changing.

I'm not sure I sometimes get the Chinese copy of the version because it changes from light yellow to darker orange from tube to tube. One has a low odor and the best option is light, almost transparent, yellowish, smells sweet and fragrant, like needles.

  • tools and housewares
Cons
  • unreliable

Good for replacing SMT electrolytic capacitors

I frequently replace SMT electrolytic capacitors and this paste made the job easier and faster with less prep work. Now after removing the original blind cap I simply clean the pad with some Chipquik flux (the best flux ever!) and wick and then apply a small amount of solder paste. I can now use cooler temperatures to deliver the paste, which helps avoid overheating the pad or even heating up the board and exposing components on the other side of the board (which happened to me too). This cut…

New and improved packaging!

I have been using this product for many years so the packaging really blew me away. Before everything looked the same as in the photo from the seller. But now it's made up of many more pieces, almost like a fun little jigsaw puzzle. Chip Quik is probably better known for the low temperature chip removal solder they make than the flux that comes with it. But their flux is highly regarded for its quality and works great with lead and lead-free alloys. It is an impure type so you can leave it on…
