Review on 💧 Chip Quik SMD291NL Tack Flux: Lead-Free, No-Clean, 5cc with Plunger & Tip by James Mayberry

I have been using this product for many years so the packaging really blew me away. Before everything looked the same as in the photo from the seller. But now it's made up of many more pieces, almost like a fun little jigsaw puzzle. Chip Quik is probably better known for the low temperature chip removal solder they make than the flux that comes with it. But their flux is highly regarded for its quality and works great with lead and lead-free alloys. It is an impure type so you can leave it on or wash it off. It used to be packaged with a rubber plunger, which dissolves over time and contaminates the flux in the syringe. So if you don't use it quickly, you'll end up throwing away some of the flux. The product I received has been improved; The flux is contained in the syringe by means of a plastic plunger and the syringe is ready for installation on pneumatic applicators. For manual dispensing, the plunger and rubber cap are supplied separately along with assembly instructions. Even with manual dosing, the rubber never comes into contact with the flux, so I'm sure the shelf life of the product will be extended. You also get a plastic nozzle and a metal nozzle, which seems like a nice addition, but I can't think of a reason for that. This can help you avoid scratching the circuit board when handling the dispenser; but if you don't have a plastic soldering iron, you still have to be careful not to scratch anything. The syringe itself is physically smaller than what I'm used to, but holds the same flow rate.
