XKH- Air Intake Filter System Kit for Harley Sportster XL 883 1200 04-15, Chrome [B01NBOUTGH] Review

I'm starting somewhere between 3-4. The kit looks great on my Sportsster '03. The only problem was that the spacers between the motor and the air cleaner were too short. I ended up using stock spacers and an old gasket to get the clearance I needed. Maybe I missed something, but there are no instructions in the kit. In general I am satisfied. The price was good and it looks good.

After 5 km of driving I noticed something like black dots on the folds of the filter element. Upon closer inspection, I found that they were, in fact, HOLES! The element started breaking after only 5 miles and tiny bits of course ended up in my engine! I took it off and went back to the stock air filter until I found a quality cleaner. THIS IS NOT QUALITY! 1998 XL1200CV&H.

Imagine my disappointment when I was able to buy this product after weeks of waiting. I receive the item and find that the short hex head screws are not screwed in properly. It also says it will fit fuel injected models, but there is no MAF sensor. also, the actual air cleaner element will NOT fit over the heads of the hex bolts. not even close. If only you. ERY with mechanical inclination. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!

I got a replacement and installed it and noticed that it didn't sit flush with the carburetor. The top of the carburetor rested against the mounting plate, preventing it from sitting flush. 1/4 inch spacing is better. This causes your bike to run poorly through the carburetor.
