Cleaner, oil and wax seemed to work fine as described by other customers. Definitely better than the vegetable oil I accidentally used. I noticed that when applying the oil with the black applicator brush, pieces of the black sponge broke off the surface of the wood. I'm not sure if I have a bad sponge or bad technique. Excellent set for the money. It has everything I need for cutting board maintenance and more. I use it on wood and bamboo (although I treat bamboo a little differently - I use their bamboo oil for better penetration before moving on to them for finishing). Wooden/bamboo spoons, trays, decorations - pretty much anything.
