It is well made and the silicone around the wires helps keep the lampshade straight and level unlike the old clip on lampshade I had. This increases the overall height of the lamp a bit (because the lampshade is a bit higher), but it worked great for me. The new drum shade is a nice crisp white compared to the old yellowed tapered parchment shade I had so it looks much more modern. Used for a lampshade I wanted to leave a used lamp without the harp. The lampshade had a large black plastic ring the size of a lightbulb inside the lampshade that the top of the adapter could fit through. To keep it from falling back I inserted a metal ring made from a pad between the lampshade ring and the inside top of the adapter. It is invisible, stays in place and can be easily removed.
