not very satisfied - engines and engine parts

At least this kit had the right chain. The quality is very good but I hate that they mixed up the chain in the balancer kit and now the 'patient' stays open at night and god knows how long in the parking lot.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Hard to say

Check for authenticity on arrival

These sets have dropped in quality compared to previous orders. Either Cloyes swapped out components, or someone is swapping out quality parts for what looks like Chinese junk. There were no classic yellow chain markers on the chain. And the chain had more lateral flex than the ones I shoot from 200,000 mile cars. I buy tons of these sets. We have to look for a new supplier. Or inspect the kit soon for quality control.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons

Timing Chain Kit for 2009 2.2 VVT Ecotec

This is an OEM kit to replace the timing chain, guides and tensioner on a 2009 2.2 VVT Ecotec engine. Most, if not all, of the parts you remove are named Cloyes. All of these parts have a GM part number. The drive pinion is not included in this kit. It can be ordered separately from Cloyes through Revain. There are cheaper parts on the market. In terms of time and labor, I think it's better to invest in genuine OEM parts than parts of unknown origin.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Compatibility

Runs fine for 500 miles and 3 weeks

Runs fine for 500 miles and 3 weeks then the tensioner (for the timing chain) started leaking randomly causing the engine to stall for 2 seconds after the Start rattled heavily . Of course there really is no guarantee on the components unless you return the entire set so the guarantee via Amazon is worthless and I had to spend more money locally to replace the defective part. If you do this yourself, be sure to remove the paper. a thin metal shim from the timing chain crankshaft sprocket when…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
