I am a radio amateur and used this to replace a broken PTT switch in a handheld microphone. It was a tight space but I was able to make it work. I drilled a hole in the original PTT lever, installed this switch, removed the original switch and connected the wires to the pins of this switch.

Purchased normally closed switches while 2 failed, the top broke off when I held the black base on the bottom to tighten the screw on the top. Any slight lateral stress on the plastic or the suspension and base releases from the torso. I use hot melt glue on the back of the panel to provide extra support.

They're a little better quality than the Radio Shack from years ago BUT still poor contact with these types of push button switches (in my experience). The knob has an internally attached shank with a washer attached to the end. When the button is pressed, the washer inside contacts two pins and shorts them out.
