Description of 📡 PL-259 Coaxial Lightning Arrestor: UHF Male to Female Surge Protector Bulkhead for HAM Radio, CB Radio, 2-Way Base Station System

Coax lightning arrestor with UHF type male to female connector, PL259 to SO-239 socket 50 ohm protects CB Radio, HAM Radio, 2-Way Radio from lightning strikes. Requires additional grouding cable (AWG 10). Assembled with replaceable Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) element 90V high surge power capability. The PL-259 coaxial surge protector is made by nickel plated brass body, gold plated brass center conductor, Teflon (PTFE) insulator provides reliable signal pass through. VSWR less than 1.2 & Attenuation less than 0.2 dB low signal loss; The UHF PL259 arrestor protector offer HF/VHF/UHF or other frequency equipment with extremely low loss. PL259 UHF coax lightning surge arrestor should be installed close to the equipment which need to be protected, often at the point where the coax cable enters the building. It can also be installed near the antenna for additional protection.

CaThisn is reasonably priced.

This coaxial spark gap looks good, it uses a single gas tube voltage clamp to dissipate surges in excess of around 90V. Is this breakdown voltage low enough to avoid damage to your radios? Depends on the design of your radio. I've had phone surge arresters that prevent incoming transients from damaging phones and they work. I just hope this device performs as well as the phone arresters I've used in the past. Working in telecommunications, I've seen what equipment can do to lightning strikes…

Pros
  • Assembled with Replaceable Gas Tube Element (GDT) 90V High Power Pulse
Cons
  • Without Insurance

Pros
  • PL-259 coaxial surge protector consists of nickel-plated brass housing, gold-plated brass inner conductor, Teflon (PTFE) insulator ensures reliable signal flow

CaThisn is well worth the modest cost.

This coaxial surge arrester is good looking and uses a single gas clamp to handle surges in excess of 90 volts or so. Is this breakdown voltage low enough to avoid damage to your radios? Depends on the design of your radio. I've had phone surge arresters that prevent incoming transients from damaging phones and they work. I just hope this device performs as well as phone arresters I've used in the past. Working in telecommunications, I've seen what equipment can do to lightning strikes. And…

Pros
  • UHF Male to Female Coaxial Surge Arrester PL259 to SO-239 50 ohm jack Protects CB radios, Ham radios and 2-way radios from lightning strikes. Requires additional ground wire (10 AWG)
