Waterproof? Maybe watch the downpour from home. Just don't expect them to last long when splattered. The photo shows water on the inside of the screen after the radios were taken outside. They say they are waterproof but I got splashed a bit with a kayak paddle and the Cobra turned into e-waste on the first ride. So now I have a radio. Just as useful and inexpensive as shoes.

My wife recently broke her leg. I wanted to connect something with her when she was upstairs in our house and I was downstairs in my home office. It worked great for this need. However, we tested it remotely and with more obstacles it could work for miles. I doubt it will work in every case, for the 25 miles it's listed for, but we haven't tried it in different situations. Again, it was perfect for our needs.

I use it to communicate with an elderly person who lives alone. She can call if something happens. She also has a safety button for home care. But walkie-talkies are a lifeline. We used them to put out fires in California. As we had to evacuate during one of the fires. We can easily keep in touch 24/7. We're on low power since I've been around.
