Cobra Guard for GPS, finders and accessories

What happens to bad reviews? I bought this and absolutely loved it. No, it's not premium, but it's worth more than the retail price. That works great! Accurate to within a few meters thanks to the WAAS function. Geocaching is awesome! The device is very durable and weatherproof. It's true that it doesn't work well in bad weather, but I'm sure few do. The only downside I can think of is the quality of the accessories. The car power cord works about 75% of the time. In 25 percent of the cases, it

DO NOT BUY If cost is an issue, buy a cheap Garmin branded GPS unit. I naively bought this model when I started geocaching last spring, thinking I'd buy a cheap GPS receiver just in case I didn't enjoy the sport. This device has many disadvantages. The GPS device only updates your location about every 5 minutes. Reading the manual didn't help, I had to contact Cobra for instructions on how to turn off their moronic "low power mode". I had several days when there was no cloud in the sky, but…

Meet my expectations.

I bought this device to start caching. So far I've found it to be as accurate as any other brand provided I have a "clear view of the sky" as the manual states. I've checked its location on every cache I've found so far and it's usually within 2 or 3 meters. Assuming other geocachers use all sorts of brands, I think this is a pretty fair test. In doing so, I get to know the limits of the system of the family doctor's practice myself. I have a feeling some reviewers are blaming this device for…

4 out of 5 ratings were correct.

Let me start by saying that I'm not the type of GPS user who expects a signal everywhere. After all, these satellites fly many miles above Earth in space! While I expect to lose signals from time to time, I don't expect to never get them. My device had some problems when it first received satellites. The instructions say 50 seconds but I waited a good 5 minutes. The manual also says it shouldn't take more than 35 seconds to receive a signal when cold, or 20 seconds when warm. I waited several…
