Stove Spark Flints

I have had a Spark gas stove for decades. Flints are getting harder and harder to find. They serve my purpose and are inexpensive. Whatever the material, I've found it doesn't last as long as previous packs. I buy flints more often and may switch to a different way of lighting the stove in the future. For now they work and I'm glad I can still buy them.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Flint too small diameter

I wanted to use flint in an old carbide miner's lantern. These flints were too small in diameter for this purpose. They are in the spring that is supposed to push the flint against the striker wheel, so they don't push against the striker wheel. Because they were cheap I just kept them instead of trying to return them. I expect they will work well in other applications where a smaller diameter is required.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great price

Coghlan Flint Spark Epic Failure

Does not ignite at all on setting 1 or 2. At maximum spring pressure at setting 3 the spark will sometimes "ignite" but only 1 in every 2 or 4 clicks and the spark was too weak to even ignite a gas stove burner. After half a dozen tries it took 8-12 clicks or more to ignite and I was concerned about the amount of unburned natural gas I was venting into the room. Also, I eventually examined the flint and found that over 1/3 of the flint was worn away. I tried again with a new flint with the same

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
