Coghlan Flint Spark Epic Failure

Does not ignite at all on setting 1 or 2. At maximum spring pressure at setting 3 the spark will sometimes "ignite" but only 1 in every 2 or 4 clicks and the spark was too weak to even ignite a gas stove burner. After half a dozen tries it took 8-12 clicks or more to ignite and I was concerned about the amount of unburned natural gas I was venting into the room. Also, I eventually examined the flint and found that over 1/3 of the flint was worn away. I tried again with a new flint with the same result. On the other hand, out of desperation, I put in a Zippo flint. Nice massive sparks every time you hit the lightest spring tension (setting 1). Light the same gas burner as before with the Coghlan flint. lights up instantly in 1 or 2 clicks. After half a dozen successful firings and checking for flint wear. "Minimum". At more than three times the price of a pack of Zippo flints, the Coghlans went straight to the trash. They may function differently in other products, but as far as Coghlan flints go, they are in Coghlan flint sparks. an absolute waste of money.
