Yes it's expensive but once you use one of these you won't need another ripper. It feels good in hand, has good balance and easy open/snap/pick up/close saves time. I've pricked myself more with these cheap kid sized rippers and torn more tissue in the 2 years since mine wore out than I've used any of them in 20 years. It's losing a star because the earlier version's plastic case was a bit brittle, but I hope that's fixed. Despite this, it is one of the best sewing accessories.

My whole class loves this seam ripper. I got it from Joanne's stuff for class about ten years ago. Even the ceiling store loves it. Bought mine for less than $5, hope to find another one soon, everything I like that works well seems to be discontinued.

The best sewing tool I've ever seen. I had one at school 25 years ago. It broke about 10 years ago so I kept it hoping to find one just like it. It was here, love it and so happy I have a new one. I would recommend this product again and again. The twizzer end makes this product. This makes all difficult-to-grasp threads child's play

The original still works but the mechanism is a bit loose. Happy to find a source for a new one. Not sure if it will be that long-lasting - we'll find out. The first combo I bought worked great for 15 years. Expandable at both ends is incredibly convenient. Unfortunately I have to change this rating from 5 to 3.
