I had some coins which I tried to clean with toothpicks and toothbrush without success. I picked them up and tested them on some very hard and rough coins and cleaned them to look almost new apart from the darker patina. These things are needed!

You need these tools to clean coins. They have their own uses. You may need more tools than this depending on how far you want to take your coin cleaning hobby. If you have a stereo microscope you can see where they are a little missing. However, if you're going to do a basic cleaning, it's top notch.

These are great for cleaning up unearthed items. I have recommended them to several people and the two who bought them have been satisfied. The pen brush wears out fairly quickly and I still need to perfect the cleaning of unearthed copper coins, but other than that I'm very satisfied. He works wonders with relics. Soap and water in the first photo, pencils in the second.

Love these and don't know how I went without a set. These "pencils" are every serious metal detector's best friend. So many times I've found items that I just couldn't clean enough to identify. Those days are over! They are very light and easy to use, and the soft brush makes something old look new. Sharpened pencils are great for detailing and a small scalpel is great for gently removing rust.
