Failed Hard Drives: Data Storage

We ordered one of these to replace our old secondary data hard drive. We have a computer repair company so we keep backups of all our data and programs and know the signs of imminent hard drive failure. We got the drive, installed it, formatted it, and started copying data off our old hard drive, which was starting to tick. It worked great on day one when we copied around 200GB of data. By the second day we were copying more and this drive started ticking louder than the one we were replacing…

Pros

Cons
  • Nothing Here

A gray market drive that is not covered by Seagate's warranty.

If you're considering buying one of these drives, be aware that they're likely not covered by Seagate's manufacturer's warranty, so luckily. If you end up buying one when it arrives, I highly recommend going to the Seagate warranty confirmation page. The original version of this review was conveniently pasted here, but Revane didn't like it, so let's try again. Use your search engine of choice to search for "Seagate Warranty Check" and you'll likely find it. I think someone even included a link

Seagate is a Scam - Computers and Accessories

I purchased this drive directly from this listing in 2018. The listing shows that the product shipped to me is NEW, with warranty. 1 year, your industry standard is usually 3. The drive I bought here is less than 3 years old and starting to fail, even their diagnostic software can't even find the drive to check. I contacted support for a replacement RMA. It took them over 3 weeks to respond to my support request and my first contact with the company told me that the serial number on my hard…

Average quality, not a great product.

The volume of the HDD is the most important parameter for me, since the screw is the loudest element in my computer (the second place is the PSU, the third is the CPU cooler -i7-3770). WD Green seemed loud and slow to me, so I decided to replace it with this instance. As a result, left as is. For me, this level of noise is unacceptable. I also appreciated the speed. Reading a folder with 50GB movies - 4:24 on this instance and 4:48 on WDC_WD20EZRX - the difference is less than 10%! Windows…

Pros
  • They write about reliability, but it’s hard to check if you don’t buy a dozen and find out how many of them are covered in three years. No other benefits have been identified. A screw is like a screw.
Cons
  • Who said it's quiet? Led to these comments and bought. Turned out to be MUCH louder than the existing WD Green. Higher volume of both the engine (constant noise) and the operation of the heads (crackling). The second disadvantage is the price. Fortunately, I bought it from my hands for 3000, while in the store it was 7800.

Perfect product for any user!

HD Tune, default: read min 72.7 max 157.8 aver 119.8 access time 12.7ms Hards were bought for work in a home file server, for backup. Surprised by a very quiet operation - it is not audible at all. Even against the background of one and a half terabyte Samsungs of the F2 series. However, it heats up noticeably - without special cooling, it heated up to 44 degrees when formatting. The electronics board is turned with parts towards the case, but in the area of the controller chip, the…

Pros
  • Speed Potential Reliability 36 months warranty (although with luck) No Trouble at Seagate in Thailand The silence is absolute No perversions with Advanced Format
Cons
  • 4 plates/8 heads Hot

I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

At the moment, the most reliable of all possible 3-terabyte solutions! Bundles of such in RAID can quench the thirst for free space for many months (if not years) ahead. I use these for home computers as well. losing information is much worse than paying a little more for a hard drive. The price is certainly high, but still this is a specific server hardware. If you want to buy a hard disk once, install it and never remember it again - this disk is for you.

Pros
  • - High volume. - SATA3 interface. - Exceptional reliability.
Cons
  • - No, perhaps.
