Failed Hard Drives: Data Storage

We ordered one of these to replace our old secondary data hard drive. We have a computer repair company so we keep backups of all our data and programs and know the signs of imminent hard drive failure. We got the drive, installed it, formatted it, and started copying data off our old hard drive, which was starting to tick. It worked great on day one when we copied around 200GB of data. By the second day we were copying more and this drive started ticking louder than the one we were replacing. There are flaws, so they give guarantees, so they replaced it with an exact duplicate. The second disk arrived, we installed it and formatted it. There were 2 unallocated sectors on the disk, only one generally remained. We were able to format just over 2TB of the drive, but couldn't format the second unallocated sector. We've seen this before with disks that have severely failed clusters that need to be replaced. This obviously won't work for us as we need the full 3TB which is roughly 2.69TB and it was clearly a hard drive that was destined to fail quickly. We decided to return this drive as well and use Toshiba instead. It's sad that few hard drives can be trusted to keep working.
