Rides well looks good but

The tire rides well and looks great at 700x25c on my red Trek 3.1 road bike. But have had 2 flat tires in the last 5 months (not on OEM Bountrager tires in over a year). Then the edge of the tire broke at a certain point (see picture), the tire bulged out at that point when inflated, and THIS WAS THE END OF THE TIRE. Next up is the purchase of Vittoria Rubino.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Excellent road tire

I needed to replace my old tire and took the risk of ordering it online. I wasn't sure how it would work, but after installing it on the front wheel I had the opportunity to ride in a variety of conditions with many types of hazards. This tire performs well on gravel, bumps, falls, potholes, broken pavement, rocks and sand. I am satisfied and impressed with the performance of this tyre.

Slightly narrow, runs true to size

Once installed and inflated they feel slimmer compared to the Ultra II. They didn't stretch after a few hundred miles and the 25mm tires are around 24.6-24.7mm and the 25mm Ultra IIs were between 26-27. Apparently this is similar to the 4000-5000 -Upgrade, Continental makes new tires taller/slightly narrower. They may have had to deal with complaints that previous sizes were too big. Just want to mention if you are replacing the Ultra II kit.

Good tyres, would buy more

So far so good! Great tires, slightly improved over the tires my bike came with. They were very difficult to install ourselves, my partner and I struggled and ended up just taking them to a bike shop for a quick and inexpensive install. It costs money for someone else to do it. The bike shop noted that it takes a few minutes more to install, which is something to consider if you want to do it yourself. I sometimes drive on rougher roads and have not had any problems with punctures or damage. Iโ€ฆ

Buy if you need traction

These tires have amazing wet and dry grip. Even more than high-quality Continental tires. However, they also have a slight weight loss and don't roll as quickly. If you're one of those drivers who likes grippy new tires, you often say every 6 months, but that's it. 5000 (not as strong grip, but less rolling resistance). If you just want a bulletproof tire, get Conitnentals Gator Skin/Hard Shell tire (lasts 4x longer but sacrifices traction and rolling resistance.

Great price, good hold.

I bought these to replace 25mm tires with 28mm tires. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and these fit the bill. These are good tyres. Easy to assemble on wheels and look great. I've only ridden them once, that was about 20 miles, but the grip is great, the ride is smooth and the tread seems to be holding up well with little to no wear (which I expected from only 20 miles). use). I've been told that Gator skins are the only way out, but they seem perfectly acceptable to me, especially when I

Good quality tires at a reasonable price

I'm a fan of Continental tires for my bikes. I like these tires for their quality on my training runs. I rarely get apartments, maybe once every few years, and I drive 4-5,000 miles a year. I have used the more expensive Continental tires and they are great too and I buy them when I find a good end of season sale but these are my budget tyres. They're a bit narrower than the 5000's when installed and don't ride as softly, but they're very solid tires. Their sidewalls are slightly heavier, which
