Description of COOCHEER 20 Cubic ft Car Roof Bag: Weatherproof Rooftop Cargo Storage for Traveling, SUVs, Vans, and Cars with Racks

Your gear will stay as dry as in a rooftop cargo box: 100% waterproof, no stitching, waterproof coated zipper and straps, zipper flap, protect car roof cargo carrier against water penetration. Save fuel, protect your roof, travel quietly: Features triple-layer high density 1000D PVC fabric. This material is 2 times stronger than 500D PVC fabric, which most other rooftop bags adopts and can easily rip. The coated surface can effectively protect your luggage against rain, grit, snow, wind and sun on the road. Built to last: Heavy-duty fabric, no harmful chemicals, peel-proof and tear-resistant. We notice that the straps of other cargo bags can easily rip from the seam, so we doubly reinforced the strap seam. And all seams of this cargo bag are heat welded and stitched to ensure they are watertight. Oversized 20 cubic feet: Massive 21 cubic feet (L52" x W40" x H17.5") of space can easily hold all luggage of a family of 5-6. Most other roof cargo carriers are small and there is not enough room to accommodate everything you need. Fit all cars: Whether your car is with roof rack or not, the 8 strong straps can always secure your roof top carrier bag. There is no jury yet.

It's not yet clear what we think of this trunk. Firstly it doesn't look like the picture, the material is more like a vinyl material. The straps alone will not hold the wearer in place, so it would be wise to purchase additional straps for added security. We drove through a downpour and it looked like our bags were dry at the destination.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Hard to say

Not waterproof, best in soft shell tote bags

Bought this for a trip to Florida. It is 18 hours away from where I live. Okay, first of all, it has no direction. One of the straps that attaches it to the roof has come loose from the pocket where it was sewn. This bag is not waterproof. When we got home we were blown about in a storm and our clothes got wet. I would not recommend it. Save some money and buy one of the good hard cases.

Pros
  • Heavy duty finish

It did the trick: Exterior accessories

Took 300 miles round trip. Don't count the straps that come with the kit. Get ratchet straps. I cut out a board 1/2 the size of the bag. This was done so I could have a firm footing and not damage the roof of my Santa Fe. It's good that no water got in during the downpour. I packed a tent, a double Graco stroller, packed and played, some beach toys and 2 I'm really good at Tetris loungers.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Works as described in Cargo Carriers

Best value for money. It is waterproof and works as advertised. I would still suggest using pockets to keep things dry and for peace of mind. Although I've just done 400 miles in rain and snow and haven't had any leaks. I also recommend using a ratchet strap for reassurance. The straps on it seem strong enough, but since they're only sewn on in small places I wouldn't rely on them as my only means of attachment to a vehicle. Overall I am very happy with this bag so far.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options

Put things in plastic bags if you want them to stay dry.

One part of the description says "Waterproof", the other part says "Waterproof". Definitely not waterproof. We reached our destination in pouring rain. I waited until the rain stopped to start unpacking, and by that time I already had 1/4 inch of water in my bag. I like the structure of the bag; clips, material, size. It remains only to put things in garbage bags to protect them from the rain. Perhaps spray the outside with a weatherproof spray for added protection.

Economy means getting the job done.

We drove this vehicle tied to my 2018 Santa Fe on the freeway for about 26 hours and stopped in 3 cities to unload/recharge. I used crossbars because my roof rails are flush and I didn't want to run the straps through the car. The product arrived with 2 long straps and 4 short straps that had no stop at the ends so just tension held them in place. Buckles and no instructions. Loops are sewn into each corner, which we tied to the crossbars with shorter ribbons. We crossed the longer straps over…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not bad
