Bamboo Is Not Solid: Knife Blocks And Storage

1. This is not solid bamboo. It's bamboo glued to cheap pine. 2. The glue used stinks. This makes the knives smell. I don't know if it's food safe.3. The slots are not milled very well. There are cheap pine shavings in the grooves. Generally not satisfied.

Excellent knife block, beautiful!

I had a nice set of stainless steel knives in my desk drawer because I couldn't find a pad to display them. The knives didn't fit in the old block I had and in this block the problem was solved. The color contrast of wood and stainless steel looks beautiful. Very happy with this purchase!

Very cheap and poorly made

Overall this product was one of the lowest quality products I have ever received from Revain. It didn't look like a painting at all - the wood was very uneven, as if made from random scraps, and the paint was dull and muddy. It was not properly ground and had various roughnesses. The knife holes were roughly cut and had a rough texture - some were difficult to insert a knife into. find the bright side. It's really just cheap junk.

An important design feature!

Many wooden knife blocks have slots for steak knives cut vertically into the wood. This will dull your steak knives with the sharp edge facing down when stored in the block. Most people don't think about it and don't lift the sharp edge for safety reasons, which makes sense. In this block, all the knife slots are arranged horizontally, so the blades lie and slide on the sides, which does not interfere. blunt them. I gave this block 4 stars instead of 5 because the kitchen scissor room crowds…

Comfort and number of slots

I don't have the largest collection of knives, but over time they accumulate, and for me this block allows to store everything. Best of all, its "footprint" is only 1/4 inch larger than what I had before, so countertop storage is super easy. I don't have a protractor to measure the angle, but to me, removing and returning the knives feels "right." for my height/arms. Hardly worth mentioning, but to be honest the slots next to the scissors can be tricky. I was able to fit two grooming/broaching…

Solid bamboo (laminate), well built, deep cuts.

There seems to be a question about the design of this block: is it solid bamboo or is it veneer? The answer is "both". Bamboo, a hollow, cylindrical plant with long longitudinal fibers, will not grow to the 6" x 6" cross-section needed to build this block. Instead, pieces of bamboo are glued and pressed together into a block. Then the top layer of the block is covered with thick pieces of milled bamboo to create an even and attractive pattern. I also took some shots of my longest knife and…

I had a great knife block that came with a medium knife set.

Before that I had a great knife holder with a set of medium kitchen knives (maybe Faberware?) that we got as a wedding present and then I kept the 'good' knives for myself. (a hybrid of Henckels and Wüsthof) in a drawer covered with homemade cardboard guard blades. Ghetto but effective. I also kept 4 steak knives (Chicago Metropolitans cutlery) in the "good knife" drawer. This went on for many years until one day I decided I wanted 4 more steak knives in case we had guests over for dinner. With

You get what you pay for.

You really do get what you pay for. I waited a long time for it to arrive because it was originally out of stock so I really didn't want to return it and it was the best deal on a larger block. I wanted to be able to add my steak knives to my block along with some fancy knives I had, so I wanted something more. This set has more slots but I am fortunate that my set has a narrower grip than some of the other sets otherwise it would be a problem installing them in some of the side slots. Also…

A very good solid wood product that will hold a lot of knives!

This product is made from 100% real bamboo. Despite reading negative reviews from people who have no idea what they are talking about, I decided to buy it. Bamboo grows in the form of a hollow round tube. It is cut into slats about 1/8 inch wide and can be as long as a bamboo stem (usually about 12 inches). Once you have a stack of these boards, they are glued together to make boards, planks, or in this case a block. Bamboo can be glued both vertically and horizontally, each of these two ways…
