Powerful Aquarium Pump

I have tried several aquarium air pumps over the past 3 years. The last was the Whisper 100, which was about half the price of this one and took about 6 months. The whisper pump was actually no quieter than this. This pump produces a lot of air and is easily adjusted with the valves on the supplied manifold. It's not quiet, but it's not very loud either. If you want a quiet pump, this isn't for you. If you need good constant air, it will deliver. I've had this pump for about 1 month now with no

Still going strong!

I thought it was going to be a crappy cheap buy but my experience with the device was great. It's loud as hell without a doubt, but it's actually relatively quiet for what it does. This thing blows air like no other. I hooked this thing up and have been working for a year straight. It does get a bit warm, so pointing a small fan at a running compressor will greatly reduce the heat signature coming from the unit. This also helps the device last longer and perform better as high operating…

High Volume Air Pump

I bought this air pump looking for a pump that could propel a large number of balloons at a depth of 3 feet. Many other pumps I have tried have not quite done their job. This pump is noisier than a traditional vibratory pump, but when you need a powerful device that pumps a lot of air, then this is what you need. Update 8/18/2012 - I am sorry to report that the pump has failed after 8 months of operation at 3ft. Although the pump was noisy, it was acceptable given the amount of air it pumped…

Noisy but powerful in aquarium pumps and filters

I am very impressed with this pump. You can tell it's well built and really pumps air. I have a 280 gallon tank and use 3 out of 4 outlets and love it. I'm actually ordering another one soon for another tank I have. You get what you pay for and this one is a bit more expensive but I have bought 2 other pumps here on Amazon they are maybe 6 months old. One is in the garbage that has already stopped working, and the other is working, but I'm sure it's standing on one leg. The only reason I didn't

Incredibly loud on air pumps

I read the reviews and knew it wasn't going to be 'quiet' but I wasn't prepared for how loud it really is. Maybe it'll do a great job. Maybe it's better than diaphragm pumps. That's all well and good, but if you can't be within 30 feet of the tank because it's so loud, it's a waste of time. We put it in a tank cabinet and turned it on with the air valves closed. The noise coming from the pump was the equivalent of a loud TV. It is not possible to have a normal conversation in the same room with
