Maybe not warm enough

These heaters are fine. They are warm but maybe not enough for very cold weather. I'm still trying this with different batteries as some types can generate more heat. One of the retractors only worked a few times, now it won't retract. I found that I had to use the full length of the cable and route it under my diaper cover to put the battery case in my pocket because the cable and retractor were too long to attach to my hiking boot. If you wear tall boots this may be fine. I used an adhesiveโ€ฆ

Warm and inexpensive, yet delicate

Great idea, and even better. They are very inexpensive and provide a small amount of heat for several hours using 4 AA batteries. However, they are very filigree due to the materials used and their design. The retractable cord holder needs to be pulled back slowly or it will knot, and some sort of strain relief may be needed to connect the pads. I'd happily pay twice as much for a larger, more durable pair that gives off a little more warmth. I saw their size when I ordered and intended to useโ€ฆ

A little useful for camping and hiking

Okay it's cheap so what you get. cheap. I tested them briefly to see how hot they get and how long the batteries last. The maximum temperature the pads get is just over 90 degrees. Not sure if it's warm enough to be of much use when it's really cold outside (like here in New Hampshire). The rechargeable 2400mAh AA batteries lasted about 2 hours before the pad's temperature dropped significantly. So if used in 40-50 degree weather for example, they can make your toes feel a bit more comfortable.

But works. good for outdoor activities

I bought a pair of these from Revain a few years ago. The first or second time I used them, one of the batteries shorted out and the connector melted. Indus-Tool sent me a spare pair with battery packs attached (I prefer swappable batteries). For me, when they work, they have worked great. The problem is that the heating element is so thin and fragile that it breaks very easily. They can be repaired (which is painful), but I've found that fitting them to a fairly rigid cardboard insole (whichโ€ฆ

I modified mine and they are really HOT! Yes they work but I changed mine. After reading the reviews I heard a lot of problems with batteries not lasting as long. I use them for hunting and in winter I sit in the snow all day, my feet are very cold and the heating pads don't fit. I bought these insoles along with a PWM dimmer and made my own 10ah. LIFEPO4 battery. I've been running for 12 hours with heated gloves and these battery powered insoles with no problem. If I'm not careful, I couldโ€ฆ

Great for hunting and ice fishing and affordable!

Tried them ice fishing the other day. I live in Wisconsin and I'm outside all the time during cold winters. I wanted a product that worked well and was affordable. They heat up very quickly and each insole runs on 2 AA batteries. Unfortunately I don't think the batteries will last more than 4 hours. The wires are a bit awkward when trying to fit them into the boots, but that's no big deal. I just attached them to the sides of my boots. I don't think a tall person would be able to clip it to aโ€ฆ

How to complain about the price?

I would give five stars but the retractor is an inconvenience/problem in my opinion. I've only used them twice, but it was a bike ride in 17 degrees Fahrenheit and 10 mph wind. Normally in these conditions I worry about getting frostbitten toes, I had no such worries on this one. They didn't overheat my feet, but I never had the feeling of an ice cube in my toes. I use two brand name 2400mAh Nim-Hydride rechargeable batteries. A full charge takes about an hour, but I'm not sure if this is dueโ€ฆ

Works well but better to have lots of batteries on hand

Liners have a sticky foam backing so you can permanently install them in your boots. Or ditch the paper backing and keep it portable. I took off the backing paper and glued it to some sort of "non-slip" shelf liner; Now the pads stay where I put them in the shoes, but they're still removable. Pros: * They give off enough heat to make all the difference in my feet. * Relatively cheap. * Batteries have an on/off switch. Cons: * Heat generated (2 watts each) may not be enough for some peopleโ€ฆ
