Extends farther from bracket

Filter keeps falling out of its holder. The plastic pins don't stick to the threaded shank, you just had to use a nut and plate like the OEM. You roll it around in the garage, then you have to open it up and put the filter back in every time you move it.

Pros
  • 3. For use with most 5 gallon or larger vacuums made after 1988; suitable for vacuum cleaners with filters with a red stripe;
Cons
  • Waiting too long

Not suitable for older Craftsman vacuum cleaners without conversion.

I have an old Craftsman that uses a filter that is open on both sides. This one is closed at one end with the middle of the end raised about 3/4 inch. I had to cut off this protrusion to fit the filter to my vacuum cleaner. Light mod and the filter work well.

Pros
  • 5. Filter #9-17816 for 6, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16 and 32 gallon CRAFTSMAN vacuums with model numbers prefixed with "113" or "125";
Cons
  • Older model

Short Filter - Modified for use with a 12 gallon Ridgid vacuum

Old Shop Vacuum Cleaner Ridgid 12 Gallon Model WD12450. Found some of the new filters to be almost an inch shorter. To match this I took new filters and enlarged the center hole to accommodate the thicker bottom of the threaded post. The new filter will now slide past the threads but will seat properly. To fill the gap I took the old filter cap, turned it over as a spacer and screwed on the old mounting nut. Presto - The new filter fits snugly and stays in place.

Pros
  • 1.KLEAN AIR 17816 Craftsman Compatible Filter 9-17816 Filter fits modern Craftsman 5 gallon vacuums and up
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Filter ok, lock nut wrong.

Correct filter but incorrect lock nut. The supplied nut is only screwed onto the filter. So how is it supposed to attach itself to a vacuum? It is not so. It literally slides down during use, blowing out whatever you suck. I finally found a rubber grommet in my tool box that fits snugly around the vacuum filter stud that the nut is supposed to screw onto and it works much better. The whole reason for buying this filter is that I lost the nut when I was using the foam cap to suck up the water…

Pros
  • 2. PACKAGE CONTAINS: 1 PC/PK;
Cons
  • Minus present
