🔧 Craftsman 1/2-Inch Drive Teardrop Ratchet with Quick Release - Model 9-44809 Review

I bought this because of the Craftsman brand. Place of manufacture not specified. The handle has small sharp edges. The ratcheting action is very rough. This is not a product that has been in production for 20 years. return.

The Craftsman has been on the decline for years but this ratchet is significantly worse than a 20 year old ratchet that I lost and had to replace. It hurts to use. Repetitive work will give you blisters. It is forged and chrome plated, no polishing or deburring.

Received January 8, 2018 Advertised as Made in the USA. It's brand new, still attached to the plastic tag that hangs it on a hook. The label on the back says "Made in China". The one I received DOES NOT have a "US" stamp on the handle which means it is genuine. Maybe it was an honest mistake. I'm sending it back.

holy cow, the name of the master has gone downhill. This disc is made in China. Works fine BUT looks like it came from a very bad sand cast. The sides were sanded before chrome plating but it was a very poor job. That being said, the Made in USA drive is over 35 years old and the differences are striking. Sad. There was a time when the craftsman was the only tool one could own.

I needed a new 1/2" ratchet so I bought a Craftsman if it breaks I can easily replace it. Upon receipt I checked the ratchet and one side of the handle is cut smooth with no rough sharp edges, the other side is roughly cut and has sharp edges, the cutter used in the machining must have been dull, leaving sharp edges and uneven cutting. Not the quality of a craftsman's tool I would expect.
