Don't stay on top of the mountaineering

Although the cleat portion on the bottom of these shoes provides great grip, the way the rubber upper is made means they don't stay on the shoe and you don't have to tighten them further. The smaller size doesn't fit and the larger size doesn't fit either. Frustration, loss of money and waste of time.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

At first they were very good but turned into a big disappointment.

Well, I initially liked them a lot, but within a week of wearing them on semi-icy surfaces, one of the "claws or handles" fell off. I did very easy, slow walking, nothing aggressive. Needless to say I am very disappointed.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Minor things

Too small for climbing and ice gear

Putting on the new cleats for the first time this afternoon. Bought large, the size 13 should have come. They look like they would fit about a size 8. A spike has already been lost while cleaning snow. Very dissatisfied! If the boot was the advertised size I think it would be a good product.

Pros
  • Heavy duty finish
Cons
  • Older model

Rusty spikes and silicone flip flops on sneakers

Made of silicone these seem to fit securely but the front tends to slip and you will need to adjust. Rusty, so come back. Not sure I'll risk another pair (assuming it's a return). For those daily walks on icy and often muddy trails, I need something securely attached to my shoes.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Mostly fine but...

Good on ice, though. in camping

Bought for my husband as he goes for a walk in the morning. The spikes will bite into the ice if left in place. The spikes on the right leg slip off. He didn't realize he had fallen in the snow and had to go back to find it. Now he uses a string to hold it. Next winter I will be buying a different brand and a better set of ice axes. Update: Now both have fallen off. Don't wait for next winter to find a better pair.

  • price
Cons
  • high price

Doesn't work well on snow but works on ice.

Like the other reviews, these don't stay directly on the body or slip off. I had a fall and had to backtrack to find it. You have to deal with them constantly. Snow gets between the shoes and makes them slip off. It's very annoying to have to look down to make sure they don't fall off. It works well on ice but not on snow. My boots are rubber and these are rubber. You simply slip off. The spikes also rust.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Safety

They are alright. - Outdoor activities

Left cat can't stay on my shoes when hiking. The washers they use to attach the spikes to the rubber frame began to rust and discolor after just a few uses. I also noticed that they are marked L and R but they sent me two Ls. They weren't actually packaged together in retail packaging, so I'm guessing there are probably two in a trash can somewhere in Revain's storage. extra R. They're ok, but I'll probably pick up a better pair from my local outdoor store for next winter travel season.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Low studs fit climbing and ice gear

They work pretty well and I was glad I got them when I got them. (I fell on the ice twice in the morning before they arrived, once so badly that I broke a rib, which was confirmed by X-rays.) However, after intensive use, some shortcomings became apparent. First, they tend to slide over my boots, leaving them akimbo a bit. But the biggest problem is that they stretched out so much that I got out of one or the other several times on "sticky" ice without realizing it. Considering I'd already…
