One Coat, very thin and smooth, not absorbent at all. Waste of money, should have known they were too cheap. It might have been better before, but not anymore. EDIT: They are double layered but each layer is so thin you can see yourself in the mirror. I didn't know you could make paper so thin! And really, it's a waste of money.

They are thin so use caution when serving dirty food, especially greasy ones or anything that needs to be eaten with your hands. They break apart easily. But you can't expect better quality for this price. So in my humble opinion the price and quality are five stars! Used them in place of cloth napkins at our wedding rehearsal (even though they used cloth at the wedding!). Will use them again for parties and other gatherings.

We threw a family member's 80th birthday party in gold, black and white. I bought shiny gold napkins and they are indeed an awful mustard brown. There is nothing shiny or golden about them. We put a handful in for our party because we didn't have any others but wasn't sure anyone even took them. Otherwise, it's a cocktail napkin.
