AE-7 Early Adopter Blues

I bought the new Soundblaster AE-7 because of its impressive hardware which should work well with my desktop 5.1 surround sound system and headphones due to the included DAC and bi-amp . . The card sounds great in speakers and headphones when working. As of this date (01/10/19) the AE-7 experiences "audio stop" on my Asus TUF Gaming X-570 Plus WiFi motherboard. This issue is reported to occur on all brands of PCIe 4.0 motherboards. Sound playback stops randomly and can only be resumed by…

Great card, bad software

The biggest problem right now is the sound side of the software under the acoustic engine. The Sound Blaster Connect 2 software is problematic at best. There were 2 cases where the sound stopped working. I did a hard reset of the software. This software cannot store multiple personal sound presets. Saving personal presets for movies, games, and music is what the software lacks. They really expect a gamer to tweak their preferred sound settings every time they play a game, or a music lover to…

Great card. Strange software.

After so many years I've decided to upgrade my old Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D card. I have Beyerdynamic DT770 250 ohm headphones and haven't noticed any noticeable improvement in sound quality, which I consider normal; it's not "worse" sound quality, and the drivers are indeed updated for Windows 10. Installation is easy, but this map comes with ZERO instructions. There is a Molex connector (the old 5-pin power connectors we used for everything on our PCs), but it's ONLY USED FOR THE…

IMPORTANT: for anyone using AMD Ryzen with a B550 or X570 board

Overall I really like this card when it works. However, there is a bug that has existed with this card for about a year on the B550 and X570 chipsets: sometimes the audio switches between channels, allowing the center to play your rear right speaker, or your right speaker can be swapped out. with left speaker. It seems to happen randomly and sometimes you might not have a problem for a couple of hours, other times it happens pretty quickly. Switching to headphone mode and then back to speaker…

The hardware may be great, but the software can have trouble installing. I had a Creative Sound Blaster Recon 3D card. great card. but the Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 should be a big step forward. Got hardware from Revain, uninstalled old software, turned off computer, replaced old sound card with an AE-5, plugged everything back in, started computer. Installed AE-5 and . the sound was only in the front L / R channels. Tests have shown that the rear L/R speakers and C/Sub speakers received a…

I don't like the idea of tethering multiple USB ports.

I'm not a music lover but definitely an audio enthusiast. I argued between an external DAC and a sound card for several weeks and settled on the AE-5. I don't like the idea of tying up the few USB ports I have left for something permanent, internal as it was. I have to say that this is a definite improvement over my on-board sound (Asus z170-pro) in terms of sound quality. Listening to lossless sound sources with this card is pure pleasure. I switch back and forth between gaming and music quite

Best $150 I've Spent on My Desktop PC Sound.

Let me start by saying that I am in no way a true audiophile or sound engineer. I just like good sounding music and I can tell the difference between a smooth sound and an exciting sound. My first impression of it was how good the card looks in person. Typically, the exposed circuit board cards look fairly minimalistic, although there are some models with pleasing aesthetics. This is the best IMO in that regard. The hardware that comes with it is fine, nothing special, and the drivers are…
