Dell XPS 13 9360 update

Dell XPS 13 9360 update PCIe NVMe is overkill for me so I went with this SATA M.2 drive. I've had good luck with Crucial SSDs in the past. The Crucial MX500 seemed like a good alternative to the Samsung 860 EVO. Same warranty and features but $40 cheaper. I did a clean install so can't comment on software cloning. Comes with a mounting screw, but the factory screw that came with the XPS 13 worked fine. Installation was easy. Works perfectly. 5 Stars.

Items fall off the board. Very bad soldering quality

This SSD worked for a few days until it failed. I opened up the computer to see why it wouldn't boot and found that a small component had fallen off the circuit board. It looks like the soldering quality is bad enough that something could come off the board without even hitting it. Very disappointed that a product that stores vital information is so cheap that it will just fall apart and boom, all your belongings will be lost.

Exceeded my expectations

So I did a similar exercise with another SSD brand and it was an amazing experience. The real value of this product lies in the free cloning software they offer. I didn't have to reinstall anything! Once my backup was complete, I crossed my fingers and followed the free software's linear steps. It booted back to the hard drive. Then due to Windows 10 I was requesting a special boot in the BIOS and before I knew it I was flying high on my SSD.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not bad but...

In the past I have always stuck to Samsung SSDs but have had 5 year warranties and comparable performance, this Crucial MX-500 has hit the mark. I bought an ELUTENG M.2 SATA SSD Enclosure to USB C 2230 2242 2260 2280 USB3 Adapter and it worked great to clone my existing bootable SSD to this new 1TB model. I went through the Crucial software manually to see what the options were, but ended up using it in automatic mode. It worked flawlessly and I like the high speed of this device. Buy with…

I love that they include a mounting screw like most others.

Got a 1TB M.2 SSD today and hooked it up to my desktop. It recognized it right away, so I used Easus to clone my main hard drive, which had my operating system installed, in about an hour. I then restarted the computer and pressed F12 to select which drive to boot from and selected the encrypted drive. I then pressed Windows + R key to access the HD manager and proceeded to format my old drive, map it to a data drive for photos, etc. The whole process was pretty painless. Started right away…

FAST BOOT Suitable for internal SSDs

Easy to install in my 2 week old Acer Nitro 5. I have a 500GB M.2, it fits snugly in the slot. A FEW DAYS BEFORE INSTALLATION AND CALLING CRUCIAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT (EXCELLENT SUPPORT) Note; Crucial Technical Support is closed on weekends. I called on Thursday and did the update on Saturday. First, I turned off my laptop. Removed all screws from the bottom cover and removed the RAM and hard drive cover. Removed 4 screws from the hard drive, carefully loosened and removed the hard drive. and used
