Too thick for a 2ZZ-GE engine

It worked but being too short and too thick left a few nicks in the cam tracks (circled in the picture) when I removed the head bolts. This may work better for other Toyota engines, but if you need it for a 2ZZ-GE engine, be very careful when using it. I was as careful as possible and still those potholes remained.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Long time

Read online how to use this tool or round off the cap screws.

Seems solid and well made. but I didn't feel like it was securely fastened in the head of the screws and I ended up twisting a few. This mistake was probably my fault because I hadn't cleaned the inside of the bolts before use and I read that the movement should be jerky and not smooth. I would recommend doing some research on using this tool before using it and if I were to do it again I would buy a higher quality device. Ultimately, it was more me than the tool that failed on my first attempt

Worked very well on a 2AZ-FE 2.4L engine for a 2002 Highlander

As mentioned before using the CTA tool clean the recesses in the bolt head first. I first cleaned the groove with paper towel strips to soak up a lot of motor oil, then finished cleaning the groove with a QTip soaked in brake fluid. Visually inspect all flashlight cap screws to ensure they are clean. At this point the CTA tool has entered the screw head recess correctly, the slip is fully engaged with some play. Using a 1/2" drive rod I was able to cross loosen all the cap screws as recommended

Pros
  • Finally bought
