Description of πŸ”— CURT 80030 48-Inch Trailer Safety Chain: High-Strength, 5,000 lbs Break Capacity, S-Hooks with 7/16-In Ends

DEPENDABLE SAFETY. This trailer safety chain is designed to connect from your trailer to your vehicle to help resist complete vehicle-trailer separation in the event of a disconnection while towing. HIGH-STRENGTH. This trailer chain has a grade-30 rating and a minimum break force of 5,000 lbs. (two trailer safety chains advised; each safety chain must meet or exceed the gross trailer weight). READY TO COUPLE. For safe, secure coupling to the vehicle, this 48-inch long trailer chain comes with two pre-attached safety chain hooks. The 7/16-inch S-hooks are fast and easy to install. EASY TO USE. When connecting safety chains for towing, two chains should be used. The safety chains should be crossed once underneath the coupler and hooked onto the trailer hitch receiver safety chain loops. CORROSION-RESISTANT. This trailer safety chain is constructed from 1/4-inch diameter, high-strength steel links and is protected with a durable zinc plating to resist rust and corrosion in spite of the outdoor elements.

Great chain for the price.

Excellent strong chains at an affordable price. Bought these to attach to a Uhaul 5x8 trailer tongue and our hitch receiver. Driven 3500 km with it and no problems.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Some problems

Well made and meets specs

I've read reviews about the chain being short but it worked great on my pendant. The chain fits and appears to be working properly. Better than I expected based on some reviews.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • No performance

Do not order a 48 " length if needed!

Product is not an advertised product. Chain is at least seven links shorter than exact same product purchased in previous years. Chain is not 48" long, even with hooks on each end.I would have sent it back but used it for another task.

Pros
  • Decent performance

Ah. This is the best chain in External Accessories

Yes. This is a chain. It's very strong. It's easy to install. I don't see it breaking. The cost is cheap and the overall premise of the product works great. I would order this and stop thinking that you can just go to your local hardware store and buy it cheaper because you can't.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Boring Packaging

Atypical use in exterior accessories

Split the chain in half, connect each end with a stainless steel turnbuckle to use the damper chain on my boat trailer. One hook on the bow eye and one on the safety loop on the underside of my heavy duty winch. If my winch strap somehow snaps, the bow of my 5,000 pound boat is going nowhere. Works perfectly!

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

A good chain is best for towing products and winches

I have a small trailer for a kayak. This chain is a good length for him and works great. Before I got the chain I used a thick rope with clamps on the end, which in theory should work fine. But a week ago, I saw a cargo trailer fly into a ditch on a freeway with no safety chains. Just in case, I decided to switch to the chain.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • There are nuances

It's a tow chain, but it worked fine for the motor pull.

This is a trailer tow chain but I used it with a crane at the shop to change the engines in my 1990 Chevy K2500 pickup and it worked great with an engine that weighed about 500 pounds. I'm not sure what its WLL is, but the minimum breaking strength is 5,000 pounds, so at 1/10 of that I figured I'd be ready to go. It was too long so I shortened it a bit with a galvanized anchor brace so I didn't have to lift the engine too high to clear the front of the truck. The S hooks fit right into the…

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • No instructions

One of those things like insurance or a standing army that you like you hope never to have use. It meets the requirements of Hawaiian trailer regulations. and this is an inexpensive way to do it. For my heavier trailers, I use a 5/16 grade 70 chain with no extra welds, terminating in 6" double locking clips that are like a double safety pistol that performs two actions for the trigger to drop. Hammer. This safety chain is suitable if you follow the chain rules of under hook crossing which gives
