Very happy with the bike and powersports

I have a Harley Deluxe 05 and Amazon said it would not fit my bike but I ordered it anyway because everything looked the same in the picture and of course than it arrived It came with and had some extra stuff attached to it maybe for another bike. But I made it, thank god. So you can't just deviate from what Amazon says because it might work for you too.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • Some nuances

Good kit good price

Much needed update for my 2003 Dyna FXD Super Glide. The bike has 38,000 miles and the carburettor needed a good cleaning. The only downside to this kit is that it doesn't come with a vacuum piston diaphragm which is pretty much a guaranteed replacement part. Even if not torn, the membrane usually stretches, affecting performance and making reassembly almost impossible.

Not everything fits: Fuel system

I have a 2004 Sportster 1200C. The accelerator pump diaphragm did not fit as shown in the attached photo. It was just smaller than the groove it needs to sit and seal, and there was no way to stretch it to fit. Also the two about 1/8" gaskets that are in the accelerator pump housing were a bit small. The original gaskets fit snugly in the bore and have clearance. I installed them anyway because I think they probably are, but otherwise everything fits Please note that this kit does not include…

Everything seems fine

This kit looks the same as the original James repair kit but it is not. This kit contains most of the gaskets and some hard parts needed to repair a 1990 Keihin Harley carburetor. The float pin is 3 sided, not 4 sided like in James' set, if that matters to you. Also, the needle is steel with a Viton tip instead of aluminum. I still feel like steel. Note that if you neglect the carburetor and allow it to corrode, steel needles can react negatively to a non-ferrous needle seat over time…

  • Good price
Cons
  • Not sure

Missing items and cheap quality.

Do yourself a favor and buy a genuine James Pad set, save yourself money and headaches. Of course it costs around $40-$45 online or at your local Harley dealership, but my goodness the quality is worth it. This kit is pure junk and half of what is pictured is missing. 1) Missing parts. 2) The bowl and accelerator pump gaskets are cheap hard plastic, not the typical rubber like in the James kits or the others I usually buy. 3) The accelerator pump diaphragm looks like it will outgas in a few…
