Review on Keihin CV 20709 🔧 Carburetor Rebuild Kit by Cycle Craft by John Pound

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything seems fine

This kit looks the same as the original James repair kit but it is not. This kit contains most of the gaskets and some hard parts needed to repair a 1990 Keihin Harley carburetor. The float pin is 3 sided, not 4 sided like in James' set, if that matters to you. Also, the needle is steel with a Viton tip instead of aluminum. I still feel like steel. Note that if you neglect the carburetor and allow it to corrode, steel needles can react negatively to a non-ferrous needle seat over time, according to some Harley mechanics. There are no cheap lunches, so drain your carbs and refill your tank at the end of the ski season. The accelerator pump diaphragm looks high quality and fits snugly to the body. Runs a little small, but stretches and fits a bit. One part I had a bit of trouble with was the float bowl o-ring seal. The part surrounding the accelerator pump spray tower is slightly offset. Because of this difference, I had to use spark plug wire grease to hold the gasket in place, but it worked. Nozzles or other needles are not included. Orings fit well. Also included are 2 new intake manifold gaskets. None of them have instructions. There isn't even a retail box with a picture on it. Just a bag. Snap a photo and use your guidebook plus YouTube if you're new to it. Mine didn't leak on the desktop after rebuilding. Relax. You can do that!
