Love this router among routers

I like this router. I had a cheap $40 router that worked fine in our old house, but we recently moved to a 2,000 square foot house. Foot, our old router just couldn't maintain or receive a good signal. The master bedroom is upstairs on the other side of the house, we could barely get Hulu or anything on our first shoulder. As you can see in the picture the lower numbers are at the top of the stairs next to our TV and the higher numbers are at the bottom where the router is. We also hooked up 4…

Cons
  • sad packaging

This router worked as advertised with an 8TB Elements external drive that was used for six months was connected. After an automatic firmware update, the router suddenly stopped recognizing the USB drive. First, I spent at least two hours making multiple calls to tech support before finally getting permission to request an RMA. D-Link's RMA process is the worst I've seen from a tech company. The replaced router had the same problem out of the box. A few more calls to tech support go through the…

fairly large block - make sure it fits - does the job

Works fine. My devices seem to be a bit faster, especially those that can use the upper band. I've had to reset it about 2 or 3 times a month, but I've still been using a DOCISS 2 cable modem with it. That could be a problem. It seems that the frequency of required resets is about the same as the replaced wireless network N. Also, don't pay for the fastest internet service. Didn't have time to update. The setup was just a bit confusing. I had trouble setting them up as an infrastructure…

So far so good for routers

I've reluctantly updated the D-Link DIR-816L. I'm actually very impressed with this new router. It seems oddly large compared to my old D-Link. However, it was easy to set up after a few minutes of navigating the navigation menu. I didn't have to mess with setting up the 2.4 and 5GHz bands as they automatically switch for you when needed, and guest access was easy, which is handy for my shop's customers/staff. I really didn't have to do much tinkering. It was easy to apply filters to blocked…
