daniel smith is the innovative manufacturer of beautiful watercolors for artists worldwide, and makes the largest range of watercolors of any manufacturer, more than 250 colors. the 250+ color collection includes the exciting primatek watercolors made from minerals (like amethyst) plus other unique colors (like moonglow) not available elsewhere, and luminescent watercolors which allow artists to capture the luminescent colors that exist in nature that regular watercolors cannot capture. mixing primary colors, yellow, red and blue is the foundation of color mixing to make orange, violet and green secondary colors. working with two different primary sets, cool and warm, expands your color mixing potential. when mixing these 6 essential colors in different combinations, you can paint landscapes, still lifes, portraits whatever you choose!. the addition of the titanium white watercolor ground is a wonderful opportunity to try out painting with watercolors on different surfaces. the watercolor ground can be applied to nearly any surface; wood, metal, plastic, cardboard, books and more! after the watercolor ground has dried and cured, that surface can now be painted with watercolors - imagine the creative possibilities!. Model Number: 285610117.

Good value for 6 separate primaries

Good value for watercolor beginners allowing them to try professional paint and get all six separate primaries giving unlimited possibilities for mixing other colours. Daniel Smith paint contains more water than other professional grade paints such as Winsor Newton, resulting in more shrinkage when dried in a paint can for future use. Of course, the large tubes of paint are more economical, but a bit expensive for a beginner to buy 6 large tubes when not sure if they will stick with the hobby.

Great professional color when you're ready!

I switched to this kit after taking online tutorials during the pandemic and really saw how the types of brushes, paper and paint really make a difference to a project. After working with various student watercolors I felt ready to move on to these succulent watercolors and they didn't disappoint! Daniel Smith is the gold standard when it comes to color and I can see why. The rich tones, easy blending, even application and opacity are delightful and make painting even more enjoyable. I'm glad I

Wonderful Products Daniel Smith

I am a seasoned colored pencil artist but new to watercolor painting and sometimes need touch ups and touch ups. The 1 oz Titanium White Watercolor Primer was a good way to try it. I found it easy to use in crayon touch up layers as it restores the tooth. It can also be used to lighten areas to be painted over again with watercolor. I apply a very light layer and reapply when needed. For example, I didn't like how I could paint an area of my subject's hair and lighten it and paint/paint over it

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Requires Base

MARVELOUS! With the right price!

I gave this a 3 in hopes someone would read this when making a purchase decision (most people read low reviews to get an idea of the issues). This set REALLY deserves 5 stars! I feel lucky with this find. I searched the ground and found this. A set of 6-5ml tubes is on sale for only $35! I fell for it immediately! The country is very orderly. It's like a bonus that comes with an already discounted set! I have MANY colors of Daniel Smith tubes. It's legal. If you're new to watercolor painting…
