Poor quality, would not buy

Poorly constructed USB cable. After only a few months of ownership and about 1 hour of use per week, the cable shorted out rendering it inoperable. I always kept the device with the cable directly in the special pocket of the backpack. Cord sprayers remained in direct use. Just bad design. Also, I could never see the SD card. Wouldn't buy again.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Wrinkled

Works well sometimes

This item works great except when it doesn't. If you unplug your device and then try to plug it back in, it won't always be recognized. You can tell by the supplied light not turning on. Delete and try again. Still does not work. Switch to a different port. That does not work. Wait a few minutes and then 50/50 if the device works again. Obviously frustrating. I really like the versatility of the device, but the fact that it doesn't always connect makes it difficult to recommend.

Has worked fine with my government PIV card - about 1 year.

OR I have to say, works just as well as the reader I received and is much more portable. It's very light and not that clunky. Most importantly, it connects to the Thunderbolt 3 port without being cluttered. Reads the map. I can log in. The crappy software means I have to unplug and plug it back in at times, but I'm pretty sure it's not the reader's fault. Update: It's not that reliable. About a year later I had to remove it as it became unusable. He traveled little and was not subjected toโ€ฆ

Doesn't work on MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro is currently running macOS 10.13.6 and it's not working. When I try to find it in devices it is not recognized. I've tried to find the manufacturer's website for installation help, but to no avail. I've tried finding this online for help on other forums and have been unsuccessful. It should be plug and play, but it isn't. ------ Update ------ I am currently using macOS BigSur and it works better than I intended. I can use any of the SD card slots (from phone, camera and GoPro)โ€ฆ

Handy little USB-C, suitable for card readers

I use this very small and compact USB-C to transfer pictures and other files from my iPad. I have the latest iPad, so the lightning cable compatible adapter isn't working. This is a problem because sometimes I use my iPad for photos and videos and I don't want to fill it up. This is small and compact, with SD, Micro SD and USB storage compatibility. I have another USB-C port but it's a lot bigger with more inputs which I use for my laptop but it's way more than I need for my iPad. It was cheap,

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

Pros: 1. It is convenient to use only one 3.0 port on your laptop to work for both smart card reader and memory card reader. Cons: 1. Speeds are boring. After several tests with cards that could consistently read 90 MB/s and write 30 MB/s on other card readers, I was more than disappointed to find that this card reader increased the read speed to 22 MB/s (below the USB specification 2.0) limited and writing speed. at 13 MB/s (FAR below the USB 2.0 specification). The smart card reader is what I
