Have been buying these socks for years. Why? Because it's the best you can buy. Don't trust their "lifetime guarantee" though. This is a scam. I sent the manufacturer five pairs of socks that were worn out and/or had holes in the heels. Not only did they not replace my socks, they did not even contact me to explain why this happened. These Merino wool socks are very well made. I bought them for a trip to Yellowstone this winter. Advantages: High merino content. You will be very warm and breathable. Full height cushion. They have more cushioning in the foot and throughout the leg than any other sock I've tried. They should insulate well and be protected from abrasion by the high cuffs of the boots. I tried X-Large socks. They're no bigger than the other sizes (compared to a friend's pair) but they're much, much longer, about 16 inches. I'm a size 13 and the socks are quite loose on my foot, although there is enough spandex to make them snug enough to give my foot noticeable support, so initially the socks feel very comfortable.
