Does what I want but needs some adjustment

I am putting a star because the bubble level on top is not straight. It's easy enough to install, but I buy a level and expect it to level. Other than that, it's an inexpensive transition/level that offers the features I need at a reasonable price. Note: the manual says to check the level, use a high precision level to set the breakpoints. If I already had a high level of precision, why would I buy it? It looks like the factory that built them had the tools to set these levels before they…

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Requires socket

A practical device that can save the surveyor valuable time.

Pretty easy, pretty solid smooth transition. The included user manual, while small, contains several pages of useful application information. I only gave this model 4 stars because the vertical resolution is only 1 degree since it doesn't have a vernier; as a result, its usefulness for range estimation is rather limited. The device arrived in good condition, but the well-folded plastic carrying case was damaged in transit as the relatively heavy device was not securely sealed in the case. The…

Not very accurate or precise but good value for money.

Satisfies my desire for a custom transition with both vertical and horizontal adjustment. If I were a professional surveyor I would spend 10 times more money to get a very accurate and accurate transit. Since this is not the case, I think the price for this article is very good. I highly recommend buying a spirit level (eg "High Precision 30"/2mm D30mm/1.2" Metal Alloy Spirit Level for RV Tripod Ball Head. I find it much easier to get a pass with a bullseye level to align than with a built in…

Another camber adjustment screw

As mentioned earlier, there was a bent vertical tangent screw. I emailed David White directly to see if I could get a replacement but it has been over a week now and I have not received anything from them. It seems typical these days that companies just don't care! This seems to be a problem, you would think the manufacturer would try to prevent this, it appears that the case was sealed and boxed before the screw was properly seated. Luckily I work for a surveying company and my contact had a…

Universal inexpensive surveying tool

This is not a too expensive tool for my Junior Ranger surveying project my property. The 22x scope works well, although the reticle is difficult to see. I found that slightly defocusing the image helped. With the vernier in azimuth, you can theoretically measure up to 10 foot arcs. Half a degree is enough for my hobby work. It also measures height, but without the vernier. This is not a problem for me because I use a laser level to get the height difference between the recording points. The…

Pros
  • 1/4 inch at 100ft (6mm at 30m) Leveling accuracy

Excellent railing adapter (LT6-900 Meridian)

I was a little apprehensive about purchasing this passage because someone in a review said the tangential screws had excessive play, that's not true there is a spring that keeps the pressure on the tangential screw so there is absolutely no play. I used a flag crossing for a 1280 foot fence with a hill in between. There were 3 survey pins, one at each end and one 400 feet from either end. My wife and I were able to line up one end with the 400ft pin, turn up the hill about 800ft and set the pin

Pros
  • Horizontal lock and tangential screw - provides precise movement control
Cons
  • Expensive
