DO NOT BUY! - Gearbox and transmission

So looks like a decent mount, fits well but the rubber compound is too soft and will need to be changed after a few weeks. Buy an OMIX mount for a few dollars more. You have been warned!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Exchange possible

BUYER BEWARE! Replacement parts

This bracket broke on me after less than 10 miles! This caused the gearbox to sit on the cross member and caused problems when shifting to 4lo. Don't buy thinking it'll be "a little while" before you can afford a better one.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Doubtful

Do not buy unless you plan to replace again in a few weeks

I was replacing the exhaust on my 98 xj and needed to replace the exhaust bracket which sits on top of the gearbox bracket. I figured since I already had to remove the transmission cross member I would replace the transmission mount which was showing some wear. Two weeks after I replaced the bracket with this part it was in worse shape than the original which was 20 years old. The vibrations were crazy. The transmission actually bounced up and down when accelerating. This mount couldn't even…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive

what kind of knock

eventually install the muffler, the muffler rattles on the cross member, you may want to buy a new bracket or insulator for the muffler. I replaced it to try and make the gearing quieter, now I can barely drive it with a constant thump on every hit. It's not the manufacturer's fault, but I want to be warned.

Pros
  • is very impressive
Cons
  • almost everything is ok

ahhh no vibration

What can I say. Looks and works the same as the stock bracket. 24 years on the job and it's high time to replace this villain. I mounted the engine mounts first and after a few weeks the gearbox mounts. I successfully turned off almost all vibrations in XJ! Replacing could be a 1 person job like I did, but it would be easier and faster with 2 people.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Not very good quality.

Poor quality item I do not recommend. I installed this today because my old transmission mount was so bad the transfer case was resting on a skid plate. When I installed this, it was no better. The old one had bigger tires and lasted 3 years. This one needs to be replaced. I'll look for something better, maybe take a look at a heavy duty transmission mount like my brown doggy motor mounts.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Contact seller

Made in India Fast, sloppy

Jeep Cherokee six cylinder engines seem to eat through transmission mounts like other cars through air filters. Original Mopar brackets were usually sourced from Canada. It appears that Chrysler has lost interest in manufacturing or selling these parts to partners, so third-party suppliers may be the only choice left. The mount I received arrived in pretty purple DEA Products recycled corrugated packaging and the threaded studs were politely encased in plastic grommets to avoid damaging the…

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
