Dell U2720QM UltraSharp Ultra Thin DisplayPort 60Hz: A High-Performance 4K Monitor Review

I bought this item from Revain on Wirecutter's recommendation for a similar U2720Q and boy do I regret it. While this monitor was nice, it was a disappointment for a number of reasons. About 15 days after I received it, the monitor started having image storage issues. These included a flickering display and a spooky slack image that wouldn't go away despite plugging and unplugging my 2020 MacBook Pro. Also, the monitor sometimes fails to successfully connect its USB hub with the included cable.

I wanted to upgrade my monitor for office use. I liked that this Dell could act as a hub, charge my laptop etc. I mainly work on my MacBook Pro M1. I chose quality over quantity. This monitor did not disappoint. Comparing it directly to my 27" iMac (2011) I see a definite difference. The colors are much better and the text is crystal clear. This U2720QM model is great for my dual laptop/single monitor setup, although I wish it was 2xDisplayPort instead of USB-C, but for now it looks like the PC industry is moving towards USB-C /Thunderbolt 3/4 move. I've had this monitor for about a week and I love it. I use it with my 2020 MacBook Pro (Intel processor and 4 USB-C ports). Outstanding picture quality. I bought this to replace an old HPRZ24W for my office. I used 42" 43UD79-B before. The U2720QM has better color gamut and black levels (not HDR) are superb compared to LG and the old HP ZR24W. The frame of the U2720QM is flimsy and toy compared to others. I bought this monitor for photo editing, so color accuracy was critical. Using the sRGB preset, the color consistency in my workflow is pretty good. I'm not a pro, so I'm not asking for perfect results, but overall I'm satisfied. Subjectively, the display on this panel is amazing.

This is the best monitor I've ever had. Crisp, smooth picture, USB-C powers my MacBook Pro 16 and transmits the display signal meaning I can do everything with one cable. The extra ports also turn this monitor into an efficient USB hub, which also means I don't need to plug dongles into my Mac when using this monitor. For me they are the perfect couple.

I bought this monitor after much research and it has always been the best. There are cheaper monitors out there, but it's worth every penny. Picture quality is fantastic whether I'm trying to view multiple windows on a large display while working in the office or playing fast action games on a break. The video quality is amazing and I didn't see any screen tearing that I've seen on other monitors.

Great monitor! The color is a bit greenish compared to my U2518D, so I lowered the green channel. Backlight bleeding is well controlled, better than my old monitor. The viewing angle is excellent. The color change is slight. I like the 90W Type-C charging port, although the cable is short and stiff. I really hope Dell can change the button design, but it doesn't matter if you use the Dell Display Manager to configure all the settings. All in all, this is a great monitor.

I use the included USB-C cable to connect this monitor to either a 2018 Macbook Pro or a Dell Latitude 5400. Since these two laptops do not support HBR3, the side USB ports speed is USB 2.0 for 4k 60Hz display mode. Everything works fine as expected.

Use this monitor for both photographic work and MSFS 2020 use. It's powered by an RTX 2060-based laptop and the frame rate is excellent for this system in 4K mode.

This 27 inch Dell monitor has a great picture. Tiny fonts are very clear and easy to read. The colors are accurate and very appealing. Viewing angles are excellent, no bad pixels. At a frequency of 60 Hz, everything is smooth. I'm sure you can find monitors with smaller bezels, but those bezels are too small for me. This is a nice device to have on your desk. However, as an Apple user, even after calibrating and changing the settings, I find the colors a bit distorted - always too saturated. I also like the built-in hub, which can also power your computer via USB-C, but if you want to control brightness or sound you'll have to use HDMI or DP, which is frustrating. Colors are great and text is crisp. We bought two for 4K video production. We are very happy that we chose this model. The only downside would be the placement of the inputs, so we made it so we didn't have to unplug or replug any cables.

Screen resolution and colors are excellent. But the SS USB port/socket didn't last long. I have to return the monitor as this connector can't handle more than a few cable plugs and pulls. Oooooh. just as I like the monitor. This little bug causes some serious problems.

Most importantly, they work with my Microsoft Surface Book 3 and Surface Dock 2, while the ViewSonics I bought two weeks ago didn't. Colors are clear and accurate, and screen brightness is more than adequate for my work. (photo and letter) Very good monitors for the money, they worked right away. No fuss, no fuss. I bought two of these and the item died within a few days. Much of the screen just started flickering, had vertical lines, and was blue. Even when the monitor was disconnected from the computer, the image remained on the screen. Revain would not exchange it for a new one (that is their policy). I had to send it back and then buy a similar item at a higher price. The buttons on the bottom of the monitor are hard to press and the monitor ports are hard to reach.
