I don't know why the stores don't have it.

Very disappointed having been to 4 shops and not being able to find this part although it often needs to be replaced when changing the valve in the shower. Perfect replacement, everything went without problems!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Good but not great

Perfect fit

Fits just like the original. The original was intact and heavily worn. Since I was going to replace the cartridge anyway and both parts were over 20 years old I figured the new cartridge should come with a new union nut.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I will add later

Direct replacement for kitchen faucet

If you are replacing a shower cartridge make sure you order one of these. The existing one is most likely trapped and must be destroyed to remove it. The easiest way to remove a stuck nut is to grind the flats on both sides and use a vise to remove them. If that doesn't work, drill a hole and use a hole punch and hammer to loosen it. Definitely buy it to replace the old one.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Weight

Buy one before attempting to remove the existing one

This ring will hold the shower/bath cartridge in place. We found it impossible to remove the old ring to fix a leaking shower. We didn't want to damage the threads or cause the tubes in the walls to leak by trying to overtighten them. We carefully cut off the old one to loosen it (dremmel with a cutting blade). this new part was then simply screwed on again after the cartridge change.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Defects

The original delta ring does not move!

The original ring did not remove easily and had to be cut flat with a thin blade hacksaw, after which final separation was done with a cold chisel and hammer. The chisel blade is notched and inclined in the direction of removal. A few gentle but gentle taps completed the ring removal without damaging the threads on the valve body. The new ring fitted perfectly and was installed with a light graphite anti-seize finish.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Doubtful

ABSOLUTELY VALUE TO HAVE ON HAND!

Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks on this union nut! basically destroyed to be removed. Thanks to the other reviewer here, Mr. Henson I believe, for the tip. If you can't pick and unscrew this thing with channel locks, I drilled a small 1/16th hole on the flush side of the nut. .just barely impale. Then I took a very small chisel and tapped it with a small hammer until it came loose.

Pros
  • Best in class
Cons
  • Empty

OEM part exactly what was needed / good build quality

Replaced a Delta RP19804 cartridge in my 19 year old shower faucet. This particular nut is the correct size for the valve that the RP19804 fits into. The nut is of good build quality and comes with a solid, clean thread. Will take a long time. The original nut was badly rusted and difficult to remove. It's highly recommended to have these on hand before you start as yours will likely corrode as well. Replace the nut at the same time as you change the cartridge to ensure the seals are properlyโ€ฆ
