Lightweight gas leak detector/detector

The detector was easy to use and worked great! We recently moved into a new house and thought it stinks around the gas fireplace. Of course, this thing went haywire every time I hit the gas. Following the instructions, I completely reduced the sensitivity and then adjusted it so that only the first strip lit up in clean air conditions. The alarm went off at full volume when I held it to the leaky plug. I then went ahead and adjusted the sensitivity knob again, this time so that it only lit…

Works well no instructions but easy to use

No instructions so maybe I should decline, if I could I would give 4.5. But it's pretty obvious with the on/off button and the sensitivity, and the fact of the matter is that it worked well and that was the most important thing for me. After installing the cooler on wheels, I used it to test propane connections. Gaining sensitivity just below the annoying squeak in the ambient air, then wandering my head through the pipe fittings, I heard no squeak, not even the slightest increase in tick rate…

Buyer warning! Best in Home Sensors and Alarms

Just wanted to keep this as a learning experience and should have known better. But there's an old adage that you get what you pay for. I wouldn't pay more money to send it back just to get another tool that wouldn't work either. The tool has never worked since I received it. So I'm having a hard time giving it a star rating as there isn't a star that is low enough, but it won't be published without my star review. So if the company cares and is reading this (which I don't think) and there's…

Worth every penny! in Sensors and alarms for the home

I smelled propane and soap being sprayed on the gas lines leading to my water heater and saw no bubbles. I had to check the lines for leaks - he sprayed everything with a solution and found nothing. Bought, calibrated (very easy if you watch the video) and immediately found the leak(s) - called another plumber back and he was skeptical of my "sniffer" but when he saw it in action, he was very impressed. He found a very small leak in one of the connectors (which he repaired) but the gas analyzer

A small price for a piece of mind. and saved me $375!

Great Sniffer! An unpressurized water heater was installed in the basement. From time to time I smelled "gas" and thought it was just sewage gas coming from a drain in the floor. (we had problems with the main channel). After we fixed the sewer and drain line issues, I STILL smelled of gas from time to time. Bought to check the gas lines to the stove and water heater and found a small leak in the gas line connection to the new water heater. Scared me! And couldn't sleep until they fixed it. Got

Perfect. I think it's as good as brand name

Indoor air quality assessed by a professional. He definitely noticed a small amount of propane in my basement, so he pulled out a TIF meter and immediately found a small but constant propane leak in my basement lines. A call to our HVAC experts, a few turns of the wrench and the problem was gone. I was so impressed that I went online to see if I could use one of these gauges. It turned out that the gauge he was using cost about $200 and had changed the company that made it. The reviews were…

Seems to work well: Household sensors and alarms

When the device is turned on, the readings are high at first, then eventually slowly fall back. I assumed that once this process was complete, the device would be warmed up and ready to use. About a minute or 90 seconds. As the sensitivity increases, more time is required. I've found that if you turn the sensitivity dial too far, the meter gives high readings. I took the unit outside and adjusted the sensitivity until it reached a high reading, then slowly decreased it until there was a faint…

Went like clockwork! The best in its class in terms of value for money!

The propane system at my parents' house is a bit dated. I often worried about safety. My dad prefers the old-fashioned use of soap and water, but it makes a mess around the house. After a lot of research I found this. It's durable and well built, pretty decent for the price, way better than the sub $30 ones you can find at Revain. It won't cost you a hundred dollars or more, but it will get the job done. Guess what? We found a leak in the basement. At first we didn't feel anything, but with the
