Not very reliable but not sure if this device or Comcast is difficult

I was able to sync with the cable box. the instructions should include this. They show how to connect the new box to the remote control, but not the other way around, which requires an entirely different code. When I try to use it, I have to press it several times before the cable box recognizes the signal. This happens FREQUENTLY. I am not satisfied with this product.

Pros
  • Long range
Cons
  • Long wait

Make sure you get the right one.

These are great remote controls but it would be very helpful if the consumer knew which ones work with which cable boxes. SILVER remotes work with Motorola etc and Platinum remotes work with Cisco RNG boxes. They look the same except for the color. Had to return one although I think the seller didn't understand which boxes work. However, I received a prompt refund. Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Easy maintainability

not suitable for remote controls

What to do? The back of the remote control says "Evaluation pattern for internal use only". I need to program it on the TV but the volume doesn't work. So it's useless. I don't even waste time contacting the seller. The item was from Maryland, and the seller's name was just a string of meaningless letters. live and learn What do you expect for $10. I'm surprised it even arrived! Comcast will replace for free but I don't have a store within 100 miles so I took this desperate step. I will try…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Finally: a solution for our destroyed old remote control.

We have two old Motorola DCH70 boxes without buttons. So when the dog destroyed the silver remote, Comcast was "too old" to replace it and the "new ones" they gave us didn't work. Well this remote didn't program the old box into "cable" mode so on a whim I programmed the Motorola numbers into their TV mode - and it works great! I don't need it for TV functions and it's great to have control of our second cable box. We ran from room to room with our only working remote control.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

SETUP required

SETUP IS EASY, but it's important to figure out HOW. First you need to RESET to FACTORY DEFAULTS (hold Set key and type 981). Then unlock the distance so you can set it up for your device (mine was a Motorola DVR). While holding the setup button, enter the UNLOCK code 982. To pair (SET) the remote with my Motorola, I pressed the "cable" button, held down "setup" and then entered 00476 (the code for COMCAST BOX is 01982). I have an old COMCAST .pdf file with device codes. Went to GOOGLE to find…

There are problems with this remote control.

Initially it is probably set to a Comcast cable box. However, it didn't work for me at all and I couldn't change the code for the cable TV button. After calling Comcast, learn how to first unlock the cable box code on the remote, then change the cable box code, then lock the cable box code again. I was able to code my Samsung TV myself before calling Comcast. The volume button works, but not when you press and hold it. Strange. My old remote works the same way, but this new one doesn't. Maybe…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • For the old

Works great for me, but my settings are simple: no streaming; just a TV screen, a cheap Vizio soundbar and a Motorola DCX-3500 box. Got a dark silver/grey model with a red "OK/Select" button. If this doesn't work with your cable box, your cable box may be a new generation 'X1', or you may need to reprogram the 'Cable' device button on your remote with a code specific to your device fits. Yes, this DID remote arrived with locked device button "cable". I had to unlock the device's "cable" button…
